One Percent Make Errors

One percent of us hoards 99 percent of our national wealth. The one percent always declare that 'Greed is Good' . However, that can only be true in moderation, otherwise they choke the golden goose who provides that wealth ....We, who are the sheeple.

Unions raise our standards of living and living costs to some degree to be sure. Professional associations, on the other hand, raise our costs of living dramatically because, unlike unions, associations have no downward pressure against their alarming upward march to runaway levels of income greed.

Dental associations set rates that seem fit for only the highest income earners. Our national health costs have become impossible, because all health professionals belong to associations who set rates at ever higher levels. When we can not keep our teeth healthy the health care system is swamped with huge demand consequences. A government dental care subsidy would help preserve our health care system saving more than it costs.

Vets who care for your dog and cat have their association set rates surprisingly high. I was shocked to find that the cost to inject a final mercy needle for a very old cat was One Hundred and Thirty Dollars.

Clever CEOs make million dollar bonuses because they trick us common folk into paying much more for goods and services without us noticing how it is done and thus they avoid public backlash. No wonder they make the big bucks.

The crafty CEOs at BC Hydro adopted a two tier rate of billing for our electricity. The concept was to encourage us to use less and stay in the lower tier for the sake of the environment. No protest and no recognition of the trick in the media.

In reality though, this was a big rate increase, since no one can keep within the lower tier as the bar is set too low. If I , as a lone resident, and a frugal, [ Jack Benny Cheapo], type can not stay out of the upper tier of consumption, then it follows that no family household can avoid the upper tier and thus the higher electrical consumption rate hike.

The slick CEOs at BC Ferries managed to raise ferry fares Eighty Percent [80%] since 2003. According to an expert interviewed on the CBC. There was no massive revolt, however. Only recently has there been threats of boycotts Cleverness continues, and the BC Ferry execs promised that fares would not be raised again for a while. So boycott threats subside and we the sheeple are appeased.

Environment fees are another golden income goose for the government. Recently I paid a $6.50 enviro fee on a $89 printer. That’s a massive percentage rate for the fee. The government is raking in a golden windfall on these exorbitant fees. Good for provincial debt reduction and better odds for re-election. The BC HST was one sneaky venture that didn’t get by us. Goodbye premier Gordon Campbell. No bonus for you, only a giant sized pension.

Everywhere we turn, rates are going up while our incomes and jobs in general are going south. You would think the smart money hoarding one percent could see how this threatens the very value of their monopoly wealth.

On the CBC program 'The Dragons', where the phrase 'Greed is Good' is often spoken, they ask a contestant if he has an efficient plant where he can produce his new widgets.

The reflex answer is always, “Yes, we have a factory workforce lined up in China, ready and willing to begin production.”

No one raises an eyebrow. It seems that automatically everyone agrees cheap labour in China is the only logical choice.

So with costs rising and jobs going to Mexico, China, South Korea and Malaysia, one has to wonder how our quality of life in Canada can possibly continue.

The sillyness continues with our shipping out raw logs and now the intent of shipping Tar Sands crude to China.

A new refinery in Western Canada seems a wiser investment. The costs of the two proposed pipelines, [Kitimat and Texas], and their risks to all water reserves seems like lunacy to me. Refined products dissipate if spilled at sea. Far better than the damage of crude tanker spills that sooner or later kill the BC and or China coastal fishing, seafood industries.

Would there be a backlash from millions of Chinese who depend on seafoods if our toxic Tar Sands crude were spilled over their shores, choking out all sea life?

Shipping Tar Sands crude to China seems crassly reckless. Aside from the certain toxic spill, there is the question of careful control of the toxic wastes from refining. China has contractors who dump wastes into the sea. Very profitable but not wise unless you have a clean planet to move to.

So the clever One percent, [Chevron, Exxon, Shell, Cinepec, etc], may consider keeping jobs in Canada, shipping cleaner value-added products and calming the rush to quick dirty profits via ill advised pipelines. One can only hope. They control Harper. We influence very few.

PS. Remember the BP Gulf Oil Spill?

There are two whistleblowers who did work for BP giving eveidence to CBS 60 Minutes. These two men show clearly that BP was in a rush and ignored the safety of everyone on the platform.

The first man, [Mike Willams] worked on the rig and noticed broken rubber sealing parts in the drilling mud flow. The BP supervisor ignored his warnings and pressed on with production.

The second person [ Ken Abbott ], is an engineer who reviewed hundreds of blueprint drawings for another BP platform [ Atlantis ], with a far bigger oil flow capacity. He is very worried because in typical BP high pressure fashion, 89 to 95 percent of the blueprints were never properly reviewed and approved.

Harper and the Conservatives are doing a generally good job, yet there are loose ends that must be cleared up.

Freedom quietly ebbs away in Canada via [amateur paralegal] Human Rights Commissions.

In a nutshell then, here is why the Human Rights Commission related trials in Vancouver are so important.

Some Provincial Human Rights *police* have been abusing their powers.

In the beginning they protected rights of the minority from unfair discrimination. A good thing.

Recently they have been unfairly leveling charges and penalties upon authors who express opinions about things like the influence of immigrant groups. Not the same as malicious slander at all.

Authors have made observations about fund raising for terrorist groups, risk prone religious practice, and dress that conceals a person*s identity.

A free society should be able to talk about things that affect our security and freedom even if it does relate to one religious or ethnic group, so long as the debate contains no slur or disrespect.

The discussion of policy and security is not * hate speech*, yet the HRC can charge an author who writes about *sensitive* issues with a crime.

The government backed HRC [appointees], can lay charges and prosecute the author while attending their own employment five days a week without any cost or penalty, except for some overtime if desired.

The author must be absent from employment and pay for lawyers, assuming debt from day one and then certainly pay financial penalties as the HRC has never lost a case so far. [ Fishy?] a Kangaroo Court that is not a real court yet operates in Canada? Impossible, you say? Wanna* bet?

The freedom to express opinions or report on the dangers of some religious customs and deceptive fund raising is squashed by the HRC. Clearly un-Canadian , deceptive and dangerous. [ No appeal ].

Keep Canada free. Do not allow the HRC to stifle opinion and debate in magazines like Macleans, the National Post or the bogosphere.

** Today, there are simply too many dollars in circulation for the currency’s own good. Why? Americans have been living beyond their means for more than two decades. The U.S. dollar’s problems stem from a single cause. **If there’s a bubble,** wrote David Rosenberg, chief economist at Merrill Lynch, ** it’s in this four–letter word: debt. The U.S. economy is just awash in it. **

You’ve seen it firsthand: John Q. Public now holds more credit cards and outstanding loans – with a higher and higher total debt load – than ever before. Outstanding consumer credit, including mortgage and other debt, reached $ 9.3 trillion in April 2003 – a significant increase from its $ 7 trillion total in January 2000 – but by the third quarter of 2007, debt had nearly doubled since 2000, to $ 13.7 trillion. With consumer spending alone responsible for approximately 70 percent of U.S. GDP, that’s quite a hefty personal debt load.

The corporate debt picture is no better. American companies have never depended so much on sales of their corporate bonds. Between 2002–2007, investment – grade corporate bond sales increased nearly 60 percent, growing from $598 billion to $951 billion. But junk bond sales for that same period broke the bank, surging from $57 billion to $133 billion.

The third leg of the debt problem, following consumer and business debt, is Uncle Sam. Government debt as of November 7, 2007, officially passed $ 9,000,000,000,000. That’s about $ 30,000 for every man, woman, and child in the country. This total includes debt owned by many types of investors, from individuals to corporations to Federal Reserve banks and especially to foreign interests. (By 2004, foreign central banks had stockpiled more than $ 1.3 trillion worth of dollar – denominated Treasury bonds and agency bonds at the Federal Reserve. By 2007, foreign debt had nearly doubled, to $ 2.033 trillion.)

What the $ 7.8 trillion figure does not account for are items like the gap between the government’s Social Security and Medicare commitments and the money put aside to pay for them. If these items are factored in, the government debt burden for every American rises to well over $ 175,000. In 2005, the Methuselah of investment mavens, Sir John Templeton, then 93, said you should get out of U.S. stocks, the U.S. dollar, and excess residential real estate. Templeton believed the dollar would fall 40 percent against other major currencies, and that this would lead the nation’s major creditors – notably Japan and China – to dump their U.S. bonds, which would cause interest rates to run up, thus beginning a long period of stagflation. He was right.

Don’t let his age fool you – Templeton was still sharp in 1999 when the financial industry hacks in Florida were urging their customers to buy more tech stocks. Templeton warned that the bubble would soon burst. He was right; they were wrong. Of course, he was only 87 back then. He is almost certainly right again. Other great investors, too, are getting out of the dollar. For the first time in his life, Warren Buffett is investing in foreign currencies.

George Soros, who made a fortune selling sterling in the 1992 ERM crisis, warns that the U.S. system could “ blow up ” at any time. Richard Russell, the influential editor of the Dow Theory letters, speaking at the New Orleans Investment Conference, warned: “If ever there was a crisis that could shake the global economy – this is it.” Jim Rogers is teaching his daughter to speak Chinese. When old – timers nod their heads in agreement – especially when they happen to be the most successful investors in the world – their advice may be worth listening to.

American consumers, companies, the U.S. government, and the country as a whole owe more dollars to more people than ever before. But perhaps the greatest threat to the U.S. economy is its foreign creditors. There is – or should be – a limit to the number of dollars foreigners are willing to buy and hold and thus a limit to their willingness to service our credit habit. Why? Because the United States, while still the world’s number – one economic power, is showing itself to be an unreliable steward of its own currency.

Let's just be thankful that the 35 mpg standard survived all the backing down. And the Detroit News mentions this: **a measure in the bill that will provide at least $90 million annually for battery research to make plug-in hybrids a reality.**

Somehow I thought the PHEV money had been stricken. Hey, it's nice to be wrong. While the 35 mpg number won't kick in until 2020, the bill mandates changes starting with the 2011 model year. My, that's soon.

Robert Zubrin correctly suggests a stroke of the pen in USA congress that will limit oil price gouging. There is NO shortage.

In a nutshell, his proposal is this: that the American congress should pass a law mandating that all new cars sold in the United States be flex-fueled, which is to say able to run on any combination of gasoline or alcohol fuels. Flex fuel is proven technology which only adds a few hundred dollars to the cost of a car.

In 2007, roughly 90 percent of all cars sold in Brazil were flex-fueled, but outside of that country, their market share was quite low - comprising about 3 percent of US auto sales, for example. However, as Zubrin argues convincingly, if it were mandated that every new car sold in the USA had to be flex fueled as a standard feature, then practically every auto manufacturer in the world would be forced to switch their lines over to flex fuel.

[ If you own a Flex fuel vehicle you have a choice. Gas at $1.05 -litre or E85 or M85 at 49 cents per litre. If the Saudis / Opec lower gas prices to compete, you can revert to gasoline anytime the price is below biofuel prices.= TG]

Thus the effect of a US flex fuel mandate would be global, and within a few years, put hundreds of millions of cars on the road worldwide capable of running indifferently on either methanol, ethanol, or gasoline.

With such a market available, alcohol fuel pumps and associated infrastructure would quickly appear, and the vertical monopoly that the oil cartel holds on the world's vehicular fuel supply would be broken, as gasoline would be forced to compete everywhere against alcohol produced from multiple sources, including biomass, coal, stranded natural gas, recycled urban trash, and so forth.

To be sure, such a development would not quite destroy OPEC. Alcohol fuels are only competitive against oil when the price exceeds about $50 per barrel. So in a free market, the best Zubrin's plan could accomplish would be to send oil prices back down to that level. Still, in the face of current oil prices of $100 per barrel, and much worse potentially in the offing, forcing the price back to $50/bbl and containing it at that level would certainly be an enormous accomplishment.

Which brings us to Zubrin's idealism. He doesn't just want to take away the Saudi's treasure. He wants to use it to end world poverty. He says: **Instead of financing terrorism, our energy dollars could be used to fund world development. Instead of selling blocks of our media to Saudi princes, we could be selling tractors to Africa. Instead of paying for death, we could be helping to spread life. Instead of buying arms for our enemies and chains for ourselves, we could be building a world of prosperity and freedom.**

Barring any last-minute design changes on the way to production, the Air Car should be surprisingly practical. The $12,700 CityCAT, one of a handful of planned Air Car models, can hit 68 mph and has a range of 125 miles. It will take only a few minutes for the CityCAT to refuel at gas stations equipped with custom air compressor units; MDI says it should cost around $2 to fill the car’s carbon-fiber tanks with 340 liters of air at 4350 psi. Drivers also will be able to plug into the electrical grid and use the car’s built-in compressor to refill the tanks in about 4 hours.

** I had the good fortune earlier this month to share the podium in Mexico City with Mayor Marcelo Ebrard Casaubon when he committed his city (the third most populated one on the planet) to a major initiative of battery EV use by the municipal government. The program will shortly expand to taxi cabs and the hybridization of transit buses.

The following week in New York, Mayor Ebrard joined peers from the 40 largest cities in the world to discuss their efforts to reduce pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg used that occasion to announce his city's plans to convert the entire 13,000 vehicle fleet of yellow cabs to hybrid vehicles over the next five years.

New battery in GM Hybrid auto future

This is the interesting end part of a CBC article about the woes of American auto makers and future plans.

Will GM and Ford be able to turn it around? The automakers, of course, say yes. Analysts say they'll need to chop vehicles, models or brands that are unprofitable (much as GM announced the phase-out of its Oldsmobile brand in 2000). They'll also need to modernize an outdated dealer network and boost investment in their remaining plants and products.

As part of that investment, GM announced a $2.5 billion program in March 2005 to upgrade plants and boost research and development in Ontario. In November 2005, DaimlerChrysler said it would invest $768 million to upgrade and modernize its Ontario operations.

And, as industry aficionados gathered in Detroit for the 2007 North American International Auto Show, GM announced it was working on a lithium-ion battery that would significantly boost the gas mileage of hybrid sport utility vehicles. Although they still represent a relatively small proportion of the market, hybrids have been the most visible of these technologies. And their availability is growing.

Nissan and Mazda will soon have hybrids on the road [Altima and Tribute, respectively].

Saturn will be offering a gas-electric version of its Aura mid-size sedan, followed by a similar variant of the 2008 Chevrolet Malibu.

Others are just over the horizon. One of the most significant will be the 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe Two-Mode Hybrid – the first fruit of a hybrid collaboration among BMW, DaimlerChrysler and General Motors.

It will be followed by a Dodge Durango hybrid, as well as more GM variants and others from BMW and Mercedes-Benz.

While these early applications will be rear-wheel drive, GM will offer a green package in front-wheel-drive form in the next-generation Saturn Vue.

PLUG-IN HYBRIDS

The next major step in fast-moving hybrid technology may be plug-in hybrids. Ford, GM and Toyota are working on them, with production applications in mind.

With greater battery capacity and the potential to be recharged from the electrical grid, as well as by their IC engines, they offer many of the advantages of pure electrics, without many of the disadvantages. The ability to charge a larger battery pack yields an increased driving range on electric power only.

As with pure electrics – and we haven't seen the last of them – the issue remains of how electricity for the grid is generated. If not from renewable, non-nuclear sources, it may be a case of simply shifting the environmental burden from the automobile to somewhere else.

Nevertheless, plug-ins are going to happen, perhaps sooner than you think.

HYDROGEN FUEL CELLS

These remain the Holy Grail of powerplants for many.

GM will build 100 Chevrolet Equinox Fuel Cell vehicles in 2007 – right here in Canada. They will be put into fleet service throughout the U.S.

Honda has announced that it will put 100 of its recently revealed FCX fuel-cell sedans into similar service, probably in 2008.

Of course, the same question applies to hydrogen as it does for electricity: where will it come from, and what energy source will be used to produce it?

Looking a little further out, the driveable version of GM's Sequel fuel-cell vehicle takes the technology a whole lot further. Built from the ground up as a fuel-cell vehicle, Sequel takes advantage of everything the technology has to offer, including a fully electric/electronic drivetrain, with drive-by-wire steering and brakes that spurn hydraulics. (Electric motors squeeze the brake pads against the calipers and release them.)

Such features are another step toward the demise of mechanical componentry – the bedrock of the auto for more than 100 years.

Is government ready for EV [Electric Vehicle] Era?

New super power cells like the ones being developed by Eestor will usher in the new EV era of quiet reliable and non-polluting transport. The EV wave is well under way.

Big oil and Big auto did lobby the US government to reverse stringent California emission standards in 1993. The result was all of GM*s EV-1 leased Evs were recalled and crushed at a secure GM site in Arizona.

Dilemma: Above all, Canadian and US governments want to be re-elected.

Has government looked ahead and developed a tax income model for Evs that will provide the huge cash flows that oil and gas provide for government today? Not much room for that when 8 cents of hydro power pays for 250 km of travel.

Has government thought up a transition plan for the massive unemployment coming in the oil and gas distribution and auto-mechanical manufacturing sectors?

Government re-election is very doubtful if future plans are not carefully designed and carried out.
This future planning for Evs is an urgent priority for many reasons, not the least of which is removing the fire from a fast moving terrorist movement financed through oil revenues to

A Russian hosting company with ties to the UK and the US has become the victim of a huge hack attack, a security firm warned today.

Valuehost is reportedly hosting over 470 servers that are infected with scripts that attempt to run malware on a user's computer.

Security firm Kaspersky Lab reported that a user contacted the company after he had noticed " strange behaviour" from his browser. The antivirus software vendor said the site contained scripts that downloaded a Trojan installer.

According to Kaspersky, the user visited www.5755.ru after seeing the site advertised on TV. Upon visiting the site, a second browser window was launched and the malicious scripts then attempted to run.

Kaspersky Lab said that it later found that more than 470 other servers had been compromised with the same attack. Those servers, according to Kaspersky, were all traced back to Valuehost.

Valuehost offers hosting services to more than 60,000 Russian sites, and the company also offers hosting in the UK and the US. 5755.ru, valuehost.com and valuehost.co.uk were all down at the time of publication of this article.

Some Interior employees complained that only conservative blog sites were being blocked. The news was broken by
Gates of Vienna, a conservative political blog. Gates of Vienna posted an e-mail from an Interior employee that listed 15 conservative sites that were blocked and seven liberal blogs that were not blocked. Quimby said a review of access to 22 blogs on Oct. 13 showed that only five of the 15 conservative sites were blocked while two of the seven liberal sites were blocked.

Either way, all blogs will be blocked as the new Internet filters are fully rolled out, Quimby said.

Will people pay $100,000 to plunk down on an electric sports car? Yes, says Tesla Motors.

Tesla, which has created an all-electric sports car, has already booked deposits for its first 100 cars, according to Martin Eberhard, Tesla's CEO. The $100,000 deposits guarantee that the buyers will get the cars, which will come out next year.
"All 100 are gone," he said.

The company unveiled its Tesla Roadster on July 19 in a glitzy event in Santa Monica. At the time, around 37 people had already plunked down deposits. Many early buyers, such as Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin and Ebay co-founder Jeff Skoll, are investors in Tesla. So far, only a few cars have been fully completed.

The Tesla Roadster goes from zero to sixty in about four seconds, about as fast as a Ferrari. But, unlike a Ferrari, it doesn't make a vrooming noise or smell like gas. It sort of makes an eerie hum, like those cars in the 70s cult classic Death Race 2000.

This military muscle flexing rings familiar. During times of stress like the Cuban Missle Crisis, we used to track Russian bombers in exactly the same routine way. In those days SAC intercept jets used to take off from points I will not mention and the bombers would never have a remote chance of getting to target.

The Russian exercise seemed pointless and a waste of money unless there is some military advantage to making icebergs radioactive.

NORAD launched Canadian and American fighter jets to intercept two Russian bombers near U.S. airspace, officials said Friday.

Russian military officials had warned the United States the bombers would be conducting an exercise in the region. But as the planes crossed a 20-kilometre buffer zone around U.S. airspace, the NORAD planes moved in.

At about 6 p.m. ET Thursday, NORAD scrambled three pairs of fighter jets -- including two CF-18 jets from Cold Lake, Alta.

The American aircraft included four F-15s from Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska.

*It was the Americans who found the bombers first. They came to within metres of the bombers,* reported CTV's David Akin. *There was no radio contact. After a period of time, the Russians turned and went home.*

The bombers never crossed over into Canadian or U.S. airspace. And according to Major Jason Proulx, such incidents are not rare.

*It's not just something we do with foreign aircraft,* he told CTV Newsnet. *NORAD is responsible for monitoring suspicious aircraft within our own domestic airspace as well.*

Even though NORAD knew the Russian planes would be flying in the area, he said the incident was still "exciting" for the Canadian military.

*It's always exciting to be involved in this line of work,* Proulx said.

*We have pilots and support people that train to do this; people that monitor the skies 24/7. And it's interesting when ... their training is put to the test. An example such as this was perfect: they're trained to do it, they responded, they intercepted and everything worked out great.*

[1] Governments are addicted to the cash cow of oil and gas tax revenues. The recent bump up in gas prices have been a huge windfall to the government, when half of that immense wealth goes to government. Electric vehicle? No fuel tax? - - - No way!

[2] Employment disruption: Loss of jobs in engine block manufacturing; making of Radiators, oil, gas and water pumps, muffler and catalytic converters, fuel injector systems, gas tanks, fuel lines, ignition systems, Air oil and gas filter systems and rubber hoses galore.

[3] Big Auto profits: The endless complexity in all the elements in the conventional vehicle provides a guaranteed high price and on-going parts and repair profits to auto makers. When the auto is simplified to Electric motor, Charger - controller, power steering and brakes, the overall cost will drop to lower levels when volume and competition take effect.

Like everyone else in business, I like profits, but there are no profits to be had when other countries sell us the efficient cars we want. Toyota, [Prius], Honda, Volkswagen, BMW, Mazda, Subaru, Kia, Hyundai. Do our corporations and Government have the same foot - dragging attitude that lost the British Motorcycle business to Japan?

TOYOTA CITY, Japan -- Toyota Motor showed off the production site of its gasoline-electric hybrid cars to journalists for the first time Thursday with a powerful message: The fuel-saving autos don't have to be expensive to make.

Not long ago, many leading automakers, including the world's biggest, General Motors, questioned the benefit of developing hybrid cars, arguing that the gas-sipping autos are merely an interim solution before zero-emission fuel-cell vehicles take over.

They accused -- possibly accurately -- Toyota and Honda Motor, the only other mass producer of gas-electric hybrid cars, of selling them at a loss given the labor-intensive assembly required.

There may have been some truth to that argument before, but no longer, says Toyota, which launched its second-generation Prius hybrid sedan in Japan last month.

"We used to build the previous Prius on an exclusive assembly line at the Takaoka plant, and later at Motomachi," said Kenji Takahara, head of administration at neighboring Tsutsumi plant, which now builds the Prius.
"Now, it shares a line with four other mass-production sedans," he said.

That's a big and necessary step for Japan's top automaker as it aims to offer the hybrid option on most of its models in the not-too-distant future. Toyota is hoping to sell 300,000 of the fuel-efficient vehicles a year starting mid-decade. [Wired News]

Plot to undermine our Economy?

Or is this just a BIG rip-off in a small town?

A popular hotel, beer parlour , restaurant, nightclub and adjacent liquor sales outlet all suddenly now stand boarded up and closed here in Courtenay B.C.

I wondered about how this happened when all those businesses were doing a brisk business.

Speaking with someone connected with the city, I learned the following.

The whole hotel complex had been under new ownership for the last three or four months.

Suddenly, the new owners evaporated, left town, vanished. They left, I am told with a bundle , because none of the bills had been paid.

Politically incorrect part…. Brace yourself! Before everything closed , I noticed while attending the restaurant and club that the new owners were Arabian. No idea if they were Shia, Sunni, or Iranian or Palastinian of course, but the thought did occur that this was a fast way to raise great amounts of money for say, a fundamentalist cause and damage your enemy economy at the same time.

OK, you could suggest that I am overly suspicious, yet everything fits so well, there just seems to be a very real possibility that this could be happening in other small towns in Canada.

Grand larceny on a grand scale? Knowing the MSM, we the peons, would be the last to know about it.

Lawyers, notaries public, law enforcement and investigative professionals who read this could possibly find out if this pattern of rip-off has jumped recently in Canada. Those of you who have access to crime trends sites on the net could let us know if hotels and small complexes are being foreclosed due to fraud more frequently than average. This non-violent stuff never shows up in the press.

My city contact said the new complex owners had suggested they were in the Middle East precious gems business and the impression that they had great wealth was unmistakable.

I know, I know. All this is simply word of mouth and there is no documentation. This is in fact only a possible theory. However, I risk reprimand in mentioning it, because if this is happening in other places in Canada, there is no harm in being alerted. A conspiracy theory to be sure, but there is great logic behind it and what*s the harm in debunking it if this happens to just an isolated incident?

In fact, I hope someone can assure us with authority, that this is not a growing trend in Canada. = TG

Josh is an ex-marine corps captain. He was a spokesman for US government information services and decided to decline his commission.

His contacts with Al Jazeera caused him to form the impression they were trying to be an unbiased news reporting agency.

Josh says Al Jazeera ticks off both the East and the West and so can been seen as *impartial*.

He says that the network is actually four mini networks.

I found that to be interesting. Four mini networks, soon to be five. Decentralizing is a sure fire way to insure survival. No knocking out of *head office*.

Al Jazeera has been a powerful weapon to leverage the cartoon protest riots and to further other Jihadist moves.

If the powers behind Al Jazeera are pro-fundamentalist, and I have reason to believe they are, then this expansion into the west with Josh as Washington rep, is an ominous manouver.

Update: Speaking with a friend at Visa security. He says new smart implanted cards are now in widespread use in Europe. This has cut card data theft by over 90%. Because of that, corp. crime has changed focus to North America. Thus the uptick here.

Democrat politician trying to gather votes or an Army general making a case for more troops. He is not even in this war.

I believe he simply does not want the same things that have been happening in France to happen in Germany. I think he's absolutely right and
I'm sending a copy of his letter to every politician that I can.

A few days ago Henry Broder wrote in the Sunday paper, "Europe-your family name is appeasement." It's a phrase you can't get out of your head because it's so terribly true. Appeasement cost millions of Jews and non-Jews their lives as England and France negotiated and hesitated too long before they noticed that Hitler had to be fought, not bound to paper agreements.

After WW II, appeasement legitimized and stabilized Communism in the Soviet Union, then East Germany, then the rest of Eastern Europe and for decades, inhuman, suppressive, murderous governments were glorified as an acceptable alternative to democracy.

Appeasement crippled Europe when genocide ran rampant in Kosovo, and even though we had absolute proof of ongoing mass-murder, we Europeans debated and debated and debated, and were still debating when finally the Americans had to come from halfway around the world, into Europe again, and do our work for us.

Rather than protecting democracy in the Middle East, European
appeasement, camouflaged by the fuzzy word "equidistance" now allows suicide bombings in Israel by Palestinians.

Appeasement generates a mentality that allows Europe (and too many Americans as well) to ignore nearly 500,000 victims of Saddam's torture and murder machinery and, motivated by the self-righteousness of the peace-movement, has the gall to issue bad grades to George Bush...even as
we see that the loudest critics of the American action in Iraq made illicit billions, no, TENS of billions, in the corrupt U.N. Oil-for-Food program. And now we are faced with a particularly grotesque form of appeasement.

How is Germany reacting to the escalating violence by Islamic fundamentalists in France, Holland and elsewhere?

By suggesting that we really should have a "Muslim Holiday" in Germany?! I wish I were joking, but I am not. A substantial fraction of our (German) Government, and if the polls are to be believed, the German people, actually believe that creating an Official State "Muslim Holiday" will somehow spare us from the wrath of the fanatical Islamists.

One cannot help but recall Britain's Neville Chamberlain waving the laughable treaty signed by Adolph Hitler, and declaring Europe has "Peace in our time."

What else has to happen before the European public and its political leadership get it?

There is a crusade underway, an especially perfidious civilians, directed against our free, open Western societies, and it is intent upon Western Civilization's utter destruction. It is a conflict that will most likely last longer than any of the great military conflicts of the last century -- it will be conducted by an enemy that cannot be tamed by "tolerance" and "accommodation" but is actually spurred on by such gestures, which have proven to be, and will always be taken by the Islamists for signs of weakness.

Only two recent American Presidents had the courage needed for anti-appeasement: Reagan and Bush.

His American critics may quibble over the details, but we Europeans know the truth. We saw it first hand: Ronald Reagan ended the Cold War, freeing half of the German people from nearly 50 years of terror and virtual slavery.

And Bush, supported only by England's Tony Blair, acting on moral
conviction, recognized the danger in the Islamic War against democracy.

His place in history will have to be evaluated after a number of years have passed. In the meantime, Europe sits back with charismatic self-confidence in the multicultural corner, instead of defending liberal society's values and being an attractive center of power on the same playing field as
America and Great Britain.

On the contrary - we Europeans present ourselves in contrast to those*arrogant Americans* as the World Champions of *tolerance* which even (Germany's Interior Minister) Otto Schily criticizes. Why? Because we're so moral?

I fear it's more because we're so materialistic and so devoid of a
moral compass. For his policies, Bush risks the fall of the dollar, huge amounts of additional national debt, and a massive and persistent burden on the American economy -- because unlike almost all of Europe, Bush realizes what is at stake -- it's literally everything.

While we criticize the *capitalistic robber barons* of America because they seem too sure of their priorities, we timidly defend our Social Welfare systems. We say,*Stay out of it!* and, *It could get expensive!*

We'd rather discuss reducing our 35-hour work week or our dental coverage, or our 4 weeks of paid vacation ... or listen to TV pastors preach about the need to *reach out to terrorists. To understand and forgive*.

Sana Labs discovered the other Trojan, which is distributed alongside a rootkit that hides it. The malicious software spreads via the Alcra worm, which directs infected Microsoft Windows PCs to Web sites where the programs are downloaded, Sana said.

The Trojan is able to unearth passwords and usernames used previously on a machine and does not have to track keystrokes, according to Sana. The security company said it has discovered 37,000 usernames and passwords, the majority for social networking Web sites, on log files in 7,000 locations.

Once the malicious software is loaded onto a PC, it communicates with a Russian Web server, which stores the usernames and passwords gleaned by the Trojan.

Dangerous new exploits in Internet Explorer could put PCs and data at risk, Microsoft has confirmed.

All three flaws affect the software giant's Internet Explorer browser and the flaws - for which code has already been published on the internet, could be exploited to set an a virus free on the internet.

Potential viruses would come as an email attachment that conceals the code, or even redirect users to a site that will unleash the code on an unsuspecting person's PC, leaving the computer open to a remote attack. Once the PC is being controlled by a malicious user, it can then be used to launch attacks on other PCs which is also known as the machine being a 'Zombie'.

Microsoft said it would produce patches for the vulnerabilities in its next security update due on 11th of April, which shows that even fully patched versions of Internet Explorer 6 are vulnerable to the flaw, it seems, as are users with XP Service Pack 2.

Security firms said specially written websites and hijacked servers were already being used to host the malicious code that uses the loopholes to invade vulnerable machines.

In security bulletins about the trio of bugs, Microsoft played down the threat and said: "The attacks are limited in scope for now."

To avoid falling victim to any attack, Microsoft urged users to avoid websites they did not trust and to refrain from opening attachments on e-mail messages from unknown senders.

So it's this website called PKRSER dot COM. We look it up and it doesn't exist. Then we find one website that says "if you have been billed by us and have ?'s please call ----. We call it and it is some middle-eastern call center that right away tries to get credit card info from us! I act a bitch and they finally slip up that they work for various gaming sites! This explains everything.

Yesterday Tate and I watched some "Celebrity Poker" and it looked fun. At every commercial break they advertised this website called pokerstars.net where you can play for free and learn how to play well. I had downloaded the program and played for a whole 10 minutes. All the info I had given was my name and my email addy. They somehow hacked into our computer and got Tate's bank info and jacked his money!

So between frantic calls to my parents, his parents, and the police we now have filed a police report, we're calling someone who works at the bank tomorrow so we can stop the transactions and we are going to reformat the computer. Hopefully we can stop this shit in time and we get our money back! If not, hopefully the bank has insured Tate and he gets it back regardless. Damn, damn, damn.

Before I began using my least popular credit card online, I expected it would be hi-jacked sooner or later.

So the card ceiling was lowered to very low, by telephone.

As expected, after about one year of use, the card was refused for a $19.95 software renewal.

The card company calmly accepted my news that the card had been compromised and promptly offered to open a new account in view of a good credit standing.

Now if a key stroke logger has fed your pin info back to a server bot, then the last thing you want is to use a new card on the same computer. Makes you wonder how deep the heads of the card companies are in the sand.

One refused charge against the card for $400 was made from an UK based server.

Second refused charge against the card for $380 was made in Israel.

Third allowed charge was for $1.19. I found this comical. Frustrated at the two refusals, I could imagine them buying a chocolate bar, just to see if the card had any value at all.

The value open to theft between the $190 owed on the card and the limit, was about $300. The crooks only managed to charge a $35.00 debit to the card, the $400 and $380 were above the approximate $300 limit window.

This card, and most cards in general do not charge fraud debits back to the cardholder. Visa says charges would be barred due to *out of area*.

The key logger thieves know:

[1] The credit card account number.
[2] the expiry date.
[3] the last 3 numbers of the code on the reverse side.
[4] the correct name of the card holder.
I don’t think they know or require the bank related PIN.

That info allows fraudulent use of the card.

Information like mother*s or father*s name for security validation, your sin number, and other sensitive data is not required at the time of on-line card buying.

Usually this info is listed at the bank when you open your card account. Can thieves find this extra info on your computer?

When a credit card is compromised online like this, one has to wonder what additional information they have that could allow the theft of one*s identity.

At the very least , your birthdate, your parent*s name, your birthplace and your postal code would be required. Keep personal info off your *on line* computer.

Data that you do not enter during an online card purchase.

Add to this information the recent news that stealth Trojans can be downloaded through your router firewall and malware software, just by one browser view of a webpage. No button presses from you are required.

Credit card use on the internet is no longer secure and we should not do it. The banks would refute this, but you judge for yourself.

In fairness, Canadians were unaware of the huge summary list of Liberal scams. They knew about Gomery and Adscam, about Goodale*s Trust announcement leak and maybe one or two others.

Canadians generally did not know about lists of 100 and 219 major scams carried on several websites.

The Media is highly suspect as one wonders why no such list was published until January 22nd 2006 when the Toronto Sun [Linda Williams] finally did print a somewhat different list of 218 *Low Points*.

Just one day before people went to the poles did not allow time for much change of opinion before Canadians voted.

Will any of those who scammed 10 $Billion of our public monies be fairly penalized?

Rafe Mair on the Tyee got me thinking ahead, and he is right! Right for the next election, that is.

I read all these comments and am aware that they seem to reflect politics of the 80s.

This is a new ballgame. Not 1980.

There are some decent people in the Liberal Party, but without EFFECTIVE Whistle Blower Protection law [bill C-11], those decent people could not report the massive extent of Liberal theft and channeling of our public monies.

The primary goal of this election is to put in place the people who are going to install and enforce law like Whistle Blower protection and individual Ministry accounting and audits.

These laws will provide us with more efficient and honest governments for years to come, no matter who sits in the house.

If there are nagging nellies in the CPC who want to make a fuss about bill-c38, same sex, abortion and public morals, I hope Harper keeps them on the back burner until our machinery of government is properly repaired along with the armed forces.

We can not afford to squabble while China, India, Iran Venezuela and the Jihad get their agendas in order.

I support Raif*s choice. Later when repairs are made to our federal government, an ideal house of commons will consist mainly of the Conservatives and the Greens.

The Greens are big in Europe and rightly so. We are still stumbling along in 1985. TG

Danny Huang, known handguns smuggler and US citizen is given permission to walk away free to disappear in Calgary by adjudicator at Canada Immigration review board hearing.

This wrongful action occurs even though Canadian Immigration is aware of a US warrant held by Bruce McDermott of the Great Falls Montana Police for proven transport of eight handguns across the US border into Canada by Danny Huang.

McDermott can not understand how a handguns runner, and US citizen can be released out of immigration and police custody to go free in Calgary, calling this action a *real head-scratcher.*

Here is one possible way to join the dots on this one and it sure looks bad.

Immigration Canada is an arm of the Federal Librano Government. I am aware of a story involving an officer of that government, Judy Sgro, and special favors for exotic dancers.

Exotic dancers services are bought and sold by a national syndicate across Canada. We have one hotel lounge in our small town where exotic dancers work almost 24 / 7.

I brought up their web page one day and was surprised to find the page to be far more elaborate and professional than our sleepy hotel would give you reason to expect.

The dancers for hire service is offered in all major cities and towns in Canada and there were links to Montreal , Toronto, Winnipeg, Regina, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Victoria and many more.

The *professional dancers* were offered as available for stag and private parties at your home or private club.

Just this week we heard of a takedown involving a handgun and shoulder holster on the police scanner at the *exotic dancers hotel lounge*.

Joining the dots, one wonders if the same syndicate that deals in exotic dancers may also deal in the handgun trade. One wonders if immigration Canada who provide favors for managers of exotic dancers may also provide favors for those dealing in other *products*?

I wonder if Andrew Stronach's girlie and gambling show is part of the picture. Lot's of Caribbean and South American links there. Speculation? Yes, but….

Otherwise what motivation would Immigration Canada have for not returning a US citizen handgun cross-border smuggler to Montana authority Bruce McDermott who holds a Federal Grand Jury warrant for Danny Huang*s arrest? TG

A top aide to Mr. Martin's predecessor, Jean Chretien, once called President Bush a "moron." Another high-ranking Canadian official publicly called Mr. Bush a profane name. And yet another liberal member of parliament stomped on a George W. Bush doll on national television. This was the same liberal who called Americans a profane name. [So far the count is 3, not *Millions*, who hate the USA.]

Canadian politicians of the Chretien and Mulroney school always used crude and colorful language. Chretien may well classify several leaders who do not agree with him as moron or worse. Mr. Bush may well speak in similar language , but has the wisdom to do so privately.

Did MacKinnon mention the effigy stomping was done during a TV comedy skit? Does he mention why Canadians regard the liberal in question with no gravity at all? Does Jay Leno often do similar comedy?

Mr. MacKinnon stirs our emotions here by mentioning his family comes from Canada and states the Canadian Government willingly allows Islamic terrorists into Canada.

Most Americans are too wise too accept that idea without question. Did Mr. Mackinnon forget to mention that everyone entering the USA from Canada is carefully checked by competent US border guards? Explosives discovered in Ressam’s trunk were intercepted by skilled American guards doing a professional job and they would be offended by the term *luck*.
The duty of Canadian border guards is to carefully check persons entering Canada, not persons leaving Canada.

MacKinnon fails to add pertinent background here. East Indians and Pakistanis started up logging enterprises in Southern British Columbia around 1910.
There are Muslim communities in Vancouver Island, Vancouver, Surrey, Maple Ridge and the vast majority are good citizens. Thousands have driver’s licenses.
Having a driver’s license from British Columbia is not a crime and neither is it a sure fire way to identify a *terrorist*.

U.S. politicians from both sides of the aisle have joined with U.S. law enforcement personnel to ask Canada to address this growing security threat. In response, Canadian politicians from the left have basically said, "Drop dead." [surmise?] We may yet. And how tragic it would be if the deaths of thousands of innocent Americans came at the hands of a terrorist that Canada willingly allowed into their country.

Comedian Jon Stewart once joked that "A Canadian woman kept asking me, 'What do Americans really think about Canada? " And Mr. Stewart answered, "We don't." Well, the day has come when we need to not only start thinking about them, but holding some Canadians accountable for their irresponsible actions.

[MacKinnon has an obligation not to generalize here, but to provide actual documented evidence. What irresponsible events?]

Our once great friend is turning against us. Common sense and our national security dictate that we can no longer afford to ignore that fact.

Ambassador Bolton: U.S. to Bypass U.N. if Not Reformed

John Bolton, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, has laid it on the line: Reform or we'll take our business elsewhere.

According to today's Washington Post, Bolton warned the controversial international organization that the U.S. might bypass it in dealing with thorny global problems if the U.N. is unable to make management changes that will make the world body more effective and prevent a recurrence of the kind of corruption revealed in the scandal-ridden $64 Billion Oil-for-Food program.

Bolton told reporters the General Assembly has "essentially not made progress" since President Bush and other world leaders convened a U.N. summit in September to endorse a platform of changes, including proposals to increase scrutiny of spending practices and to create a human rights council that would exclude such rights abusers as Sudan, Cuba, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Zimbabwe all of whom have served on the Council.

He warned that continued resistance to reforms in the U.N. would drive the American public away from the United Nations. "Americans are a very practical people, and they don't view the U.N. through theological lenses," Bolton said. "They look at it as a competitor in the marketplace for global problem-solving, and if it's successful at solving problems, they'll be inclined to use it. If it's not successful at solving problems, they'll say, 'Are there other institutions?'"

He added, "Making the U.N. stronger and more effective is a reform priority for us: Because if it's a more agile, effective organization, it is more likely to be a successful competitor as a global problem-solver."

The Post explained that the dispute has underscored the Bush administration's inability thus far to use the findings of former Federal Reserve chairman Paul A. Volcker's investigation of the $64 Billion Oil for Food program to bring on institutional reform.

Volcker's 18-month investigation into the U.N.'s management of the $64 billion Oil-for-Food program in Iraq uncovered evidence of corruption by U.N. diplomats, foreign dignitaries and companies from more than 60 countries.

Although world leaders had told Annan to present a series of specific reform proposals to the 191-nation General Assembly in early 2006, Bolton warned that such key initiatives as establishing a new ethics office, a human rights council and a peace-building commission, would not get funded until the next budget negotiation cycle, in late 2007.

The Post reported that Bolton has proposed delaying the passage of the United Nations' $3.6 billion 2006-07 budget until the U.S.-backed reforms have been adopted and has suggested that the General Assembly could pass a temporary budget to finance the organization's operations through the first three to four months of 2006.

Annan told reporters on Monday that he opposes such a delay, and warned that the failure to adopt the budget by Dec. 31 could "create a serious financial crisis for the organization."

He refused to comment on reports that Bolton has warned that the U.N. could find itself on the sidelines if it fails to put into place the reforms the United States supports. "I'm not the interpreter of Ambassador Bolton," he said.

The Post reported that the Secretary General also tried to calm the fears of G7 members that the reform effort is an effort to reorder the U.N.'s administrative priorities to serve American interests, and to transfer more control of the organization's budget from the General Assembly to the secretary general's office. "I made it quite clear that there's no attempt at power grab," he said. "We accept the General Assembly as the key deliberative body of the organization."

Time to dump the UN and it's $3.6 Billion budget demands in favour of the new United Democratic Nations and more efficient, decisive operations. TG

Gomery's report on the Sponsorship Scandal

TG, you don't have anything on the newly released Gomery Report! :OK, Here's my take.

According to the report three main factors that caused or contributed to the problems with adscam were:

• the unprecedented decision to direct the Sponsorship Program from the PMO, bypassing the departmental procedures and controls which the Deputy Minister of PWGSC would normally have been expected to apply and enforce;
• the failure of the Deputy Minister of PWGSC to provide oversight and administrative safeguards against the misuse of public funds;
• the deliberate lack of transparency on how the Program was initiated,financed and directed.

On the former PM and his chief of staff, Gomery said:

There is no evidence or indication that Mr. Pelletier was in any way involved in Mr. Corriveau’s kickback scheme, or that he knew about it, although itwould have been more prudent for him to investigate the general suspicions that he says he communicated to the Prime Minister when, according to his testimony, he had a “hunch” that there was something not quite right about Mr. Corriveau. However, the absence of any evidence of direct involvement in Mr. Corriveau’s wrongdoing entitles both Mr. Pelletier and Mr. Chrétiento be exonerated from blame for Mr. Corriveau’s misconduct.

But they are to be blamed for omissions. Since Mr. Chrétien chose to run the Program from his own office, and to have his own exempt staff take charge of its direction, he is accountable for the defective manner in which the Sponsorship Program and initiatives were implemented. Mr. Pelletier, for whom Mr. Chrétien was responsible, failed to take the most elementary precautions against mismanagement.

There is ample evidence of an appalling lack ofpreparation for the introduction of a new program involving the discretionary disbursement of millions of dollars of public money by Mr. Guité’s organization, without supervision or guidelines. What Mr. Chrétien and Mr.Pelletier should have done in 1996 was what Mr. Goodale did in 2002.

To me the Gomery Report was a disappointment. It did not punish Chrétien or Martin effectively. Yes, Chrétien is getting flack but he was not put down as the head honcho of the scandal. It blames Chrétien for not creating safeguards for the program and for letting it run amuck and having the program used for shady purposes. It does not say that he got money from the scandal or even that he was involved in it at all.

Instead he neglected his responsibility over the program. That is what I get out of it anyway. Dear ol' Paul is the innocent guy who knows nothing and inherited the scam from his predecessor according to the report. He is, as are other ministers, free from blame because "he knew nothing". Who would have expected that?

Maybe he did not know anything. That point has been brought up. Maybe, beyond all belief, he was not involved in Adscam. But, that is not the only smudge on the Liberal partys’ name. Techscam, Gun Registry, and Immigration issues are all issues that have happened, (or continued), under Martin's reign.

On a side note, I obtained a copy of Pricewaterhouse Cooper's audit of Dingwall's spending and have some info on that at YoungConservative if anyone is interested.

Today I met an Old-World gems craftsman who had set up a one day Kiosk at our local mall. His work and design was remarkably beyond average.

I know this because I have been in lapidary and semi-precious stones myself. Years ago when I lived in Vancouver B.C. I used to have big rubber polishing drums going day and night. Setting cabochons in silver for pendants and bolos was my thing back then.

This very nice old fellow is in it for the design and creativity. He said *I love working with gems, but I just hate doing any selling.*

I said, I had a couple of web sites, I would be proud to show these magnificent designs and workmanship on my sites anytime.

Another thing about this quiet and kind of shy craftsman, he’s not greedy.
His prices are well below the usual retail, but everything is top quality.

There is beautiful fire opal, Australian milk opal, Lab grown opal and all have great fire, none of this half-dead stuff you see in the big box stores. The pendant cabs of all variety semi-precious types are …..well words are useless. I have to get some pictures.

I bought some cabs of emperor moon jade and I know I could turn them over for a profit right now, but no way. I’m holding them as an investment but they are just too nice for words.

I gave one to a gal and she is thrilled with it. Not just the cab, but the excellent silver work finding it’s set in and the lovely design of the silver chain. Ghad! Why go to a high overhead store?

Yes I’ll be proud to show his work on my web sites and I hope to get pictures very soon. So before you spend big dollars for ho-hum jewellery, be sure to keep this excellent craftsman’s work in mind.

There will be no wheeling and dealing with me. I am no middle-man.
I will show his work here and you will deal with him directly.

He’s an old-world man of his word and if I do send business to him, he will probably give me a piece of his work from time to time.

Seeing as all of these little foxes are visiting me I will tell you a true story about a fox. When I lived in Prince Edward Island as a child, I lived on a finger of a road that ran out into the ocean. Not very far from Souris PEI.

Our little house was the last house on the road. It was a wooden farm house with kitchen windows low to the ground. Every evening our cat Boston Blackie, a huge black and white tom with no tail, insisted loudly to go out. When Boston asked to go out there was no resisting his loud, hoarse meow and so out he went.

THis was a nightly ritual and we would not see him until the next morning. One day our neighbor up the road told me that he saw my cat chasing a fox out in the potatoe field in the moonlight and almost shot him to protect the fox. (He liked foxes I guess.) But then he realized that the chase had switched and the fox was now chasing the cat! Back and forth went the game until our neighbor got bored and came back in.

Several weeks later, I got up around dawn to get a drink of water which sat in an ice cold bucket in the pantry off the kitchen. We had no running water or electricity. While drinking my water I wandered over to the window to look out to see if I could see my newly planted tulips through the early morning haze. Instead my eyes were met with a marvelous scene just below the window. There sat Boston with a beautiful red fox right beside him.

Both calmly stared up at me. The fox's gaze was curious and probling while Boston's was calm and somewhat bored as his pupils narrowed as the dawn's light grew.We stared at each other for several minutes in peace and slowly as the sun started to rise, the fox got up, stretched, rubbed noses with Boston and strode away with total equanimity. Not the least afraid or nervous of me. Boston then came to the door to be let in and gave me his growly purr as he rubbed up against my legs to say good morning.

It became common knowledge all over the road that Boston had a fox for a friend and the neighbors reported several sightings after that. Of course, in my childhood imagination, I was envisioning babies that would be half fox and half Boston and everytime I walked in the woods I kept a lookout to see if I could find them. I never did of course but I like to believe that it could have been possible.

Going on 240,000 km or so, but if you put those kms on with an easy gas pedal, then it will just keep jogging along. Other preferred vehicle is the V6 '89 Regency Oldsmobile 98. First of all thanks for the invite to post! Here's a little something I found interesting. It's at my blog but I'm putting it here too.

Guité also worked for a string of advertising agencies, which had received large contracts under the sponsorship program. His clients included Compass, Lafleur Communications Marketing, Palmer and Jarvis, Vickers and Benson, Coffin Communications, and Walding International, the firm of former Public Works minister David Dingwall.

As you might remember Walding International turned out to be a fake company, with only three employees, including Dingwall as president of the firm. Yet, this firm is included in the adscam. Now, I'm assuming that this firm was used to pass money under the table. It would seem then that he not only steals money for himself, but for his liberal pals as well. Must be nice to have all that pirated money plus a large government pension. Then again he might be spending it all on gum.

-As a side note, I've been looking for the Walding website but haven't been able to find one. Is there one? I thought it'd be interesting to look at, but then again do fake companies have websites?

I just read a post on "CBC Watch" that mentioned how it's our dime funding the dysfunctional CBC. When the term "our dime" is used, I interpret that as telling the feds that we don't like what you are doing with our hard earned money.

Trying to get rid of this waste is largely a waste of your time. The liberal party of Canada believes that all wealth in Canada belongs to them and we get to keep some of what we work for ... sort of an allowance. The rest rightfully is theirs to do what they know is in our best interest ... because we don't know what's best for us or our families. Since many of us were educated in government schools over the past twenty-five years, they may be right. We are a far dumber nation than we used to be.

So, you are dealing with a powerful organization that has no concern for your opinion, they believe they are so much wiser and superior to the average tax-paying bumpkin that absolutely nothing you can say will matter to them. Plus, Pravda er I mean the CBC serves them so well, especially at election time.

Why bother trying? Because it makes you feel better. You can say you did your best to bring about change. You are one person who cares and that's about it. The sad fact is that unless you are a large voting block that can fired them, there is no point. There is only one large block of this type and it's called Toronto.

You do better to either drop out of the game and participate in some underground economy like literally millions of Canadians already have to one extent or another, or you can start blowing stuff up like terrorists do.

Either extreme will also make you feel better (if you don't get caught). In the first case, you will have more money to call your own. In the second case you will really shake thing up and definitely cause some kind of change to occur. Quebecers did this some thirty odd years ago and the federal money has been pouring in ever since.

Now, there is yet another CBC-trained Quebecer in the Governor Generals office, Most of Canada's prime ministers have been from Quebec. If you count only the ones that held the office for more than eight months, you can say all of them are from Quebec at least in the last 60 or so years. Same goes for most of the civil service in Ottawa.

The deck has been so stacked in recent years that Canada, like the CBC has become a very expensive, wasteful, dysfunctional excuse of a country whose claim to fame is that we are better than Americans and we care about everything. No one has done more to propagate that myth than that East Coast Idiot, Rick Mercer, who is on one knee praying to a transsexual god (if there is one at all in his world) to save his job. However, that transsexual god is the federal government. That's the problem.

And if you do anything drastic and get caught, don't worry there is an army of judges and counsellors and federal helping elves with high incomes to make sure you are rehabilitated, fed, re-educated and maybe even awarded a nice government job or perhaps a grant to start your own business. That too is the problem.

Endless layers of really smelly crap ..... all on our dime.

Why is Bill C-11 [Whistle-Blower Protection Act], so Important to Canadians like you and I?

The simple answer is that an effective Bill C-11 will save hundreds of millions of our tax revenues from being laundered and squandered.

If an EFFECTIVE Bill C-11 had been in place 12 years ago when Allan Colter complained publicly that worthless false contracts were being created in Chuck Guite’s office, The Gomery enquiry may have taken place then, saving us 12 years of Adscam losses.

There was a weak whistle-blower law in place 12 years ago, but without any provision for penalty and enforcement, it was simply ignored.

Bonuses are paid out on a regular basis to key employees in all government departments and ministries by our present Liberal Government led by Prime Minister Martin. Bonuses are paid no matter if the department performance is good or bad.

Do you suppose bonuses buy loyalty, and that could explain why Sheila Fraser and her army of auditors and accountants took 12 years to take notice of Allan Colter’s complaints about false contracts?

Do you suppose poor audit reporting performance in our eyes may be regarded as good audit silen… performance by the government in power?

We have a government who was profiting through advertising agency scams. Scams where massive dollar values where allocated to advertising or promotion, but were then directed into Liberal Party coffers to pay for advertising to ensure Liberal Party victory at election time?

I also note that you raised the issue of Information Commissioner John Reid. Here is some information released today by the Conservative Party Parliament Hill researchers concerning Mr. Reid:

ISSUE: According to media reports, Information Commissioner John Reid has launched the latest round in his lawsuit to try and force the Prime Minister's Office to release Jean Chretien's agenda books, accusing the Liberal government of refusing to comply with Canada's information law, with Paul Martin named as a party in the suit (Ottawa Citizen, July 19, 2005). Reid continues his efforts to try and force the Liberal government to comply with the Access to Information Act. Perhaps this explains why Paul Martin and the Liberals have decided to ignore Parliament and refused to extend Reid's appointment for a year. Perhaps Martin and the Liberals are hoping to get rid of Reid and appoint a new Information Commissioner who won't be so keen to enforce Canadians' right to information, and who may be willing to abandon this lawsuit.

Points to consider:
* On June 15, 2005, the House of Commons voted 277 to 2, to concur in a report of its Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics that, "The appointment of John Reid, the Information Commissioner of Canada be extended by an additional term of one year, effective July 1, 2005. This recommendation would not preclude Parliament from further extending the appointment after the one year extension." Martin choose to ignore Parliament and provided only a three month extension for Reid.
* All ministers present (33) voted for the motion to extend Mr. Reid's term not by three months, but for a year. The ministers voting to extend Reid's term by a year included Deputy Prime Minister Anne McLellan, Reg Alcock, Mauril Belanger, Carolyn Bennett, Ethel Blondin-Andrew, Claudette Bradshaw, Scott Brison, Aileen Carroll, Raymond Chan, Joe Comuzzi (since left cabinet), Irwin Cotler, Stephane Dion, Ujjal Dosanjh, Ken Dryden, John Efford, David Emerson, Joe Fontana, Liza Frulla, John Godfrey, Ralph Goodale, Bill Graham, Albina Guarnieri, Jean Lapierre, John McCallum, Joe McGuire, Andy Mitchell, Stephen Owen, Pierre Pettigrew, Geoff Regan, Lucienne Robillard, Belinda Stronach, Tony Valeri and Joe Volpe
* This is just the latest example of Martin ignoring the will of Parliament

This is very good news for all Canadians. Bill C-11 has been beefed up and is likely to be very effective, protecting our federal funds from many forms of theft and re-direction / laundering.

You will find a well written piece and about eight pages of progress on other bills.

Print these eight pages out and you will have an agenda for when Parliament resumes in September.

I am delighted that Bill C-11 is deemed the most important legislation and is featured on the front of these eight pages full of interesting stuff.

Page 4 explains Paul Martin waiting until the very last minute to extend John Reid’s seven-year term. Reid is the access to Information Commissioner.

There is some mention that Reid is a thorn in the Liberals side, and NDP MP Pat Martin suggests the Liberals *Hate John Reid* Surprising insights; not all dry stuff at all.

Bill C-11 should become law in the fall session.

Like you, I have a selfish wish to get all the Gomery information, however there is a question of law.

Law comes before our personal wants.

Liberal officers decided to give open, accurate and unquestionably sound evidence in order to minimize their upcoming criminal sentences.

Grewal recordings demonstrated vote buying at a time of a non-confidence vote count difference of one vote. Tape recording validity at 100% - A-OK by expert.

These facts establish we have a corrupt government holding power on the basis of fraud, and a vote-buying blackmail arrangement with the NDP.

Law, as it pertains to the Governor General and her solemn sworn oath to the honest governance of Canada, takes precedence here.

The Governor General may be found complicit with a corrupt Canadian Government if she fails to carry out her sworn oath.

The Gomery report may well have remained entirely secret as it was to be turned into the frauds who were being investigated. They would certainly have permanently shelved it.

Quebec citizenry not quite so gullible now. Thank heaven.

I always wondered how my part of the Saint Lawrence Seaway was going to be refunded back to me here on Vancouver Island. My part of Quebec hydro too.

I didn't think the Americans would allow the refund of any National assets in Quebec. Hydro Quebec [Labrador], and the Seaway are their Eastern seaboard lifeblood.

The CIA would have assignments galore to deal with in Quebec.

I am from Ville St. Pierre / Montreal West and I know the mixed folks, French and others are friendly, good natured, and every inch Canadian.

As usual the rascals in the wheel- house are the ambitious problem, and want to jump from canal- pilot to ocean captain status overnight.

My friends in Quebec have a great sense of humour, but also a love of red tape.

Borders between Ontario and Newbrunswick would be real friction zones. Travelers would be red in the face as they worked through paper work , paid duties and fees, while guards quipped jokes and chuckled.

What a happy relief that separatism has cooled in Quebec.

Now we have to treat Alberta with consideration and respect.

Many Albertans are madder than a stampede bull with a too tight strap.

They have lots of reason to be mad as hell.
The Libscammers mismanagment of US diplomacy and the locked down border against live Alberta beef and the perception of being robbed by Ottawa.

Let's hope you can find good reasons for your list to keep Alberta in Canadia.

Canadian Tax Dollar Revenues Safeguards

Minister of Finance

I, and other Canadians watch with alarm as our Canadian Quality of life ebbs away daily. Yet your Government has reaped huge new sources of national general income. These examples come to mind.

@ Massive revenues flowing in from the relatively recent national GST tax.

@ Great windfall revenue increases from widespread lotteries and gaming.

@ A surge in auto fuel tax revenues with big 20% petroleum price increase.

@ Huge cash flows from Airport Security surcharges and other various fees.

With these sources of massive added revenues , our health-care and other social programs should be thriving, not failing. A two year plus wait for knee surgery is a disgrace in view of increased gross national income.

What steps have your government taken to stop the wholesale loss of citizen’s tax dollars? == When will Whistle-Blower protection law be enacted?==

What steps have your government taken to demonstrate that excellent and effective checks and balances are in place to guarantee fair and complete accounting of all government revenues?

When will individual Department Account and Audit laws be enacted to protect our National tax-paid Wealth == as per PM Martin’s promise during his CBC television address to Canadians? ==

Your reply will be carefully considered and will certainly influence how we vote in the up-coming election.

Dear Sir,

During Prime Minister Paul Martin’s recent television address to Canadians, he stated that accounting controls would be installed for every Ministry and government department.

I was amazed to learn that controls were not already in place at individual department level. However I am delighted that Mr. Martin is installing them.

This letter is, with respect, a request for a summary of the proposed bill white paper, and the number designation for the bill.

If departmental controls can be installed by order in council, all the better.
No opposition would dare argue against it. House of Commons debate time and money would be saved.

How promptly your government enacts the public revenue safeguards
that Prime Minister Martin promised to install during his recent CBC TV appearance, will have a direct bearing on how our votes will be cast.

Common Sense?

Common sense is enough to give you a migrain at times.

Help please! WHERE IS THE LOGIC for giving 450 Million Tax Dollars to Bombardiere for making new aircraft when after propping up our national airline, another carrier declared bankruptcy on the CBC news today? May 13/05.

I believe it was Jetsgo or similar.

How can Paul Martin and the Crippled Liberals justify another donation to Quebec?

How can the Liberals expect to get any votes from the West with another dump of our tax revenue into Quebec?

Is it now standard practice for all Canadian Governments to flame out on some sort of aircraft related scandle? (ie the Mulrooney Conservatives - Airbus).

Soon the Liberals will be history and I wouldn't be surprised if the NDP came through strongly from behind, because everyone tells me they do not trust Harper and his Corporate bottom line focus.

Sorry about this rant on an impulse, but does anyone else see the politically stupid nature and timing of this $450 million gift of our money to a Quebec darling?

You don't suspect that some of those funds could be spirited through Bombadiere to friends and croneys of the Liberal Party whose days in power are numbered, do you?

Damn, I am so suspicious. There must be some reason for it.

Dogs...Vets... and Wealth

Bonnie Raised Questions

Hi, Bonnie and Rob,

Our dog Max never strays from our large well fenced back yard. A raccoon was just too much temptation for him however and he jumped down from our back balcony...6ft. jump.

We walk Max every day to Bill Moore Park here in Courtenay. So he is never frustrated to get out of the yard. All this happened about two years ago.

So out on his own, he got his left hind leg run over and I was on the search for him, so when I saw a small group of people at 17th and Fitzgerald, I knew I had found Max.

I took him to the vet Monday morning and the Vet put Max’s back leg in a bandage.

This all took about an hour and cost $519..

This brings up a few questions.

When you have time to think about this stuff, maybe you could let me know your views...

Bandaging a dog's leg, not one hours work. How does that become $500 in value?

$7000 in value for your dog's diagnosis and amputation. Is that 14 hours at $500 an hour?

Do you think that fees are fixed through Associations at painfully high levels?

Do you think Dentists, Veterinarians, Chiropractors and other professions should be allowed to set fees where they wish and lock out normal marketplace competition?

A veterinarian in Quebec who spoke with an accent was charging lower than association fees. They tried to shut down his business. They claimed his accent endangered the pet's well-being,

I heard him on television news and yes, he had an accent, but he was perfectly clear in his communication.... There should be a law!

Should your dog's injured leg have been bandaged and allowed to heal for a month or two? Was there any need to run into an amputation mode so damn soon?

While our Max's leg seemed useless for a couple of months, He is now completely mended and does not even have a limp.

Sorry to burden you with this heavy stuff, but you realize that when fees are set too high, The majority of pets do not get any vet attention and so cruelty to animals is massively increased.

I'm glad your three legged friend is bouncing back now. In Cumberland, nearby, there are some three-legged dogs, all obviously quite happy...

Why Bother to Vote?

[1] To keep from losing freedoms. Freedoms you may not feel now. But, you will feel the pain when they are lost. You will also not be throwing away everything that thousands of Canadians gave up their lives for during three or more wars. Don’t let it happen.

[2] To keep your healthcare and pensions. Canada is rich in natural wealth and so, can afford to provide us with life enhancing benefits. Corporations want that wealth to be added to their profits bottom line. They financially support conservative and right leaning political parties to do that. Don’t let it happen.

[3] Because it’s so Easy. You just walk in. Check your name and address on the list. Mark your ballot and drop it into the box.

Just twenty minutes so you can say you did your part to save our world famous Health care and Pensions and protect our most precious freedoms.

I thought I would never get ’old’. Well everybody does and if health care doesn’t crash and burn, You will get there too someday. I do not feel old. Am still doing things I did when I was 39.

The reason Health care is so important is that it may be why I feel so young at 65. Thankfully, because government pensions are healthy and generous, I can really enjoy life rather than be forced to learn how to dumpster dive..

Dumpster diving may seem like fun for some people, but I would rather avoid it. Please do vote OK? It’s for your gain as well as mine.
